Heirloom Food and Story

A Slow Story Dinner Celebrating Two Cultures - East Indian and Pueblo Indian

This farm-to-table dinner celebrated two families and cultures, the Coelho Family from Bombay, India and the Littlebird Family with Pueblo Indian ancestry. Spoken word performances featured Master Storyteller, Larry Littlebird (Santo Domingo/Laguna Pueblo) and award winning author/playwright, Shebana Coelho (Bombay, India). The Story-Dinner was part of the HEIRLOOM FOOD AND STORY SERIES which rekindles sharing our cultural legacies around a family style dinner table, deepening our connection to land, story, heritage and each other. Tanveer Coelho presented East Indian family dishes and Deborah Littlebird presented farm-to-table fare with Southwest Native inspirations featuring heirloom foods from local New Mexico farms. Together, these home chefs and spoken word artists created an exquisite five-course summer evening repast.
